Understanding the result
The headline result converts your value from the unit you chose to the unit you want. The table beneath shows the same duration in all five units, so you can read off whichever you need.
Below that is a table of common conversions, such as how many minutes are in a day and how many hours are in a week.
What is a time converter?
A time converter changes a duration from one unit to another, for example 4,500 seconds to hours or 3 days to minutes. Unlike the date tools, it does not deal with calendar dates or months.
How it works
Every value is converted to seconds and then to the target unit using fixed lengths: 1 minute is 60 seconds, 1 hour is 3,600 seconds, 1 day is 86,400 seconds (24 hours) and 1 week is 604,800 seconds (7 days).
Results are rounded to remove floating-point noise, so 0.3 days is shown as 7.2 hours and not 7.199999999999999.
Months and years are not offered because their lengths vary. Use the Date Difference calculator for calendar months and years.
Examples
90 minutes
90 minutes is 1.5 hours, 5,400 seconds and 0.0625 days.
3 days
3 days is 72 hours, 4,320 minutes and 259,200 seconds.
1 week
1 week is 7 days, 168 hours, 10,080 minutes and 604,800 seconds.
Things to keep in mind
- A day here is exactly 24 hours. A calendar day that contains a daylight saving change can be 23 or 25 hours long.
- Decimals use a dot as the separator (1.5, not 1,5).
- For very large values the tool stops at one quadrillion units, to keep results readable and exact.
